What : board walk and beach facilities.

Where : Esbjerg, Denmark.

When : 2005.

The wave is a 1 kilometre long beach facility along the rough west coast in Denmark. It represents a clash between the brutal yet beautiful nature and the delicate fabricated boardwalk that offers a new experience of being close to the water.

In the winter the board walk becomes an outpost that lets you come close to the waves and in the summer it becomes a place for showering. It is a living structure that integrates the changing of season.

The structure is digitally designed, allowing a system of similar parts to emerge. Each part is exactly the same, only difference is the fixture. This makes it possible to work with expressive forms, but at the same time it is easy to manufacture.
